Operation Vortex Update 10-11-12 12:30 PM

The incident commander has stated that there are fatalities and injuries at the Deer Trail site; however, the exact number of fatalities and injures has not been confirmed.  Search & Rescue teams continue to focus on search and rescue efforts in order to preserve life and get an accurate count.

The Red Cross shelter located at Legion Hall in Byers, CO is open.

The hazmat incident at the pig farm has been taken care of.  Also, there was an isolated issue involving a broken propane tank; this issue has also been handled.

Operation Vortex Update 10-11-12 1050 hours

Today's community briefing will be held at 5:00 PM at Byers High School located at 444 E. Front St. in Byers.

Operation Vortex Shelter Update 10-11-12 1037 hours

The Red Cross shelter will be at Legion Hall, 278 Front Street, Byers, CO at 1:30 PM.  Community members can take their small animals with them to this shelter.

A large and small animal shelter is located at the Adams County Fairgrounds located at 9755 Henderson Road in Brighton, CO. 

Operation Vortex Update 10-11-12 1016 hours

The Salvation Army has established a shelter at 1834 Lincoln Meadows Parkway in Parker, CO.

Animal response teams are on site; when reunification locations are set up we will disseminate that information.

Operation Vortex Updates 10-11-12 1000 hours

Interstate 70 is open and structurally sound.  All patients that were in need of medical care along I-70 have been transported to medical facilities.

The American Red Cross is on scene and is setting up shelters; the exact location is pending.  Donation locations are also being set up; once the locations are set up we will get that information out.

Jeffco IMT responds to Deertrail, CO tornado *EXERCISE ONLY*

On 10-10-2012, at about 7:00 pm, a tornado touched down in Deertrail, CO.  Damage has been reported at the school library, Grace Baptist Church, the highway bridges and a pig farm north of town. 

The Jefferson County Incident Management Team (Jeffco IMT) has been called up to assist with managing this incident.  An Incident Command Post (ICP) has been set up at 5th and Ivy streets.

Byers and Bennett fire departments are on scene and West Metro and South Metro fire departments are enroute to assist in search and rescue operations. We will post a map of the affected area shortly.Further information will be available at @eximtpio

EXERCISE: Exercise Map for Operation Vortex

The tornado in Deer Trail impacted several areas.  This EXERCISE map shows the areas that emergency responders are working on at this time.

A Salvation Army shelter has been established at 1834 Lincoln Meadows Parkway in Parker.  The location has been added to the map.
